FAQ

How do I install Solexx Greenhouse Panels?

Solexx offers greater flexibility compared to twin-wall polycarbonate greenhouse panels, making it easy to adapt to any type of greenhouse frame. It is available in convenient 4’ x 8’ or 4’ x 12’ panels, as well as continuous rolls that can extend up to 900 feet. Contact us if you have questions on installation.

Why Solexx is white or translucent? Is that better than clear greenhouse?

Solexx panels evenly diffuse light throughout the greenhouse, eliminating “hot spots” and shadows to promote superior plant growth. This prevents overheating in warm weather and protects your plants from sunburn. Diffused light is essential for optimal growth, as it reaches all parts of the plant, not just the upper canopy. The increased light exposure significantly enhances photosynthesis, leading to healthier and more vigorous growth. Plus, with Solexx, plants won’t burn, making it perfect for both sun-loving and shade-loving varieties

How good of Solexx under cold or snwy weather?

Solexx panels are exceptionally durable. Even after being buried under several feet of snow and enduring subzero temperatures throughout the winter, Solexx greenhouses remain undamaged. The slick surface of the panels allows snow to easily slide off, preventing buildup. Unlike many other greenhouse materials, Solexx panels won’t yellow or degrade from sun exposure or cold weather, ensuring long-lasting performance

Does Solexx greenhouse panel break down in the sun?

Solexx panels contain UV inhibitor throughout the material; it is not simply a coating that can scratch or wear off. The covering has a 10 year limited warranty against ultraviolet breakdown.

How much spacing should I leave between supports for the panels and how many screws should I use?

For a horizontal installation, we recommend the framing (trusses) that will support your Solexx be placed 16″ – 24″ on center. If installing vertically, we have material for 4′, 5′ and 6′ rib spans. On the perimeter of your structure, we recommend attaching screws every six inches. For your supports, you only need to attach screws about eighteen inches apart. As a general rule, figure that you will need one screw per square foot of paneling. In extremely windy areas, you may want to increase the number of screws you use.

How can I cut the panel?

Solexx greenhouse panels can be easily cut with a simple utility knife.

3.5 mm or 5mm?

Solexx panels are available in 3.5mm or 5mm thickness. The 3.5mm panels are recommended in most areas because they provide more light transmission. The 5mm panels are used in colder climates (for added insulation) and for high altitude areas. It is also recommended on many custom structures for added support. Both varieties are available in 4’1″ x 8’1″ sheets and 4’1″ x 12’1″ sheets or continuous rolls.
